Description

These Pizza Sliders are easy enough for weeknight dinner and quick enough for party ideas when everyone wants something warm and fun. Soft Hawaiian sweet rolls hold simple layers of marinara sauce and pepperoni and mozzarella for the best cheesy bite. They feel healthy when served with salad and they work for meal prep or potluck because they reheat well and stay delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 connected rolls Hawaiian sweet slider rolls
  • 8 ounces sliced whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 36 slices pork pepperoni slices
  • 3/4 cup smooth marinara sauce
  • 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves minced fresh garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herb blend
  • 2 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon optional crushed red pepper flakes
  • 6 leaves torn fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Slice the 12 Hawaiian sweet slider rolls through the middle while keeping the top sheet and bottom sheet connected so the bread changes from whole rolls into two wide layers. The cut edges look soft and uneven and the rolls stay slightly attached with casual gaps instead of perfect lines.
  2. Spread smooth marinara sauce over the bottom roll layer and add sliced whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese so the pale cheese sits over red sauce in uneven overlapping patches. The rolls now look layered and saucy with some bread edges still visible around the sides.
  3. Scatter 36 pork pepperoni slices over the mozzarella cheese and place the connected top roll layer back over the filling so the sliders become one stuffed slab. The pepperoni peeks from uneven edges and the top rolls sit slightly tilted with natural gaps.
  4. Mix melted unsalted butter with minced fresh garlic cloves and dried Italian herb blend and crushed red pepper flakes then brush it over the roll tops so the pale bread becomes glossy with specks. Finely grated Parmesan cheese lands unevenly across the tops and gathers in small patches near the roll seams.
  5. Bake the sliders until the tops turn golden in uneven spots and the whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese melts into stretchy lines around the edges. The pork pepperoni slices look darker at the exposed sides and the smooth marinara sauce bubbles lightly in a few seams.
  6. Pull one Pizza Slider onto a white plate with the inside showing melted whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese and pork pepperoni slices and smooth marinara sauce between soft browned bread. Torn fresh basil leaves sit on top in a casual finish and the slider looks homemade with uneven cheese pulls and non uniform color.

Notes

Pro Tips:

  • Use connected Hawaiian sweet slider rolls so the sliders hold their shape.
  • Do not overdo the smooth marinara sauce because too much can make the bottoms soggy.
  • Slice the whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese thin so it melts evenly.
  • Let the baked sliders rest for a few minutes so the cheese settles before pulling apart.

Storage: Store leftover Pizza Sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them until the whole milk low moisture mozzarella cheese melts again and the tops feel warm and slightly crisp.
